Cliche, but every story ever told has been told before. The only non-cliche story is the one that has been told for the first time ever.

Well, it doesn't hurt that he's a really good actor and doesn't appear to "phone in" any of his performances. No matter how doomed the project may seem. It's like they say about them English actors, they truly are the top of the heep. How many times have you seen an actor in American film and television that surprised the shit out of you when you found out they were English? I know it's happened to me. On the flip side when I see an American actor play a Brit you can always catch moments of difficulty they can't quite perform convincingly. Im an American and love cinema, and imho the English have proven to be a notch above the rest in terms of versatility. Edit- I got introduced to Elba from The Wire. I thought for sure he was an American lol. Like I never even entertained the idea he wasn't. 👍

@@gatheringleaves it's based on the true story of two* lions that slaughtered like 100s of workers in Africa while they were building railroads. Turned out that the lion had a tumor that made it hyper violent (I might be getting some details incorrect). It's actually a pretty fascinating story. And I enjoyed the movie for what it was.

Wasnt it 2 male lions?, if i remember correctly the only known instance of animals killing for fun, they collected trophies predatorstyle, 130+ people killed in under a year. Theyre on show in a museum stateside somewhere.

I remember not expecting much from 'The Ghost and the Darkness'. Boy was I wrong. What a fantastic film! It's been a while, I think it's time to watch it again.

have to disagree, this just feeds unrealistic narratives of what animals out there are really like in the real world. If you want to make a fantasy, make one that doesn't demonize real animals and build fake hype for the millionaires that can afford to stage them for killing.

@@An0nymousMessages you do realise that Lions, Tigers, Bears and other apex predators kill people and this isnt some unrealistic fantasy right? there is a New York Times article about Lions in Zimbabwe and about 100 people are killed by lions per year. Tigers killed 108 people in India during 2019 to 2021 and on average kill about 50 people per year. 43 people killed by bears over the last 12 in just North America. Crocodiles kill about 1, 000 people on average per year. stop being naïve, an apex predator will kill what ever it wants if it thinks it can.

@al duduk I mean, there are documented cases of big cats (including lions) targeting humans for sport.. So it’s not as far fetched as you may think 🤷🏻‍♂️ I will say, the best part of the trailer was the lion taking out the mercenaries lol

How.......Ghost in the Darkness was a true story. Only a few scene in the movie that were Hollywood. The rest were all real events. If anything they should re release Ghost in the Darkness. It would be legendary.
